8th May 2016

This is the hottest day of the year which coincided with Chestnut Sunday in Bushy Park - which always falls on the second sunday in May to celebrate the ‘candles’ flowering on the Horse Chestnut trees lining Chestnut Avenue. The park is closed to traffic for nearly an hour and the atmosphere is brilliant. The parade consists of vintage cars, military vehicles, the mounted City Police, Roman centurions, and a lot of vespas and lambrettas. I took a lot of photos at the start of the parade as we were headed straight over to our friends for lunch and so I had to work fast! This chap stood out from the others as not only was his bike truly impressive, I thought he looked rather like Rod Stewart as well.

Lunch afterwards was also excellent and as usual we drank far too much and I even got a bit sunburnt - I guess that’s the summer for this year!
