This is our new house! Ha, ha not really although it is for the next week.

We are staying at the Vidago Palace hotel in Vidago which was originally a hotel built in 1906 for the King of Portugal. It is in one of three ‘thermal’ towns - the other being in nearby Chaves and the third in Verin just over the border in Spain. For some reason there is hot thermal water in this region which rises to the surface and is thought to have many medicinal qualities. I tried the water at one of three spa buildings in the grounds and it was tepid, salty, slightly sparkling and with a bit of an iron taste. I cannot say that it was the best tasting water and it was slightly unnerving that I had to sign a disclaimer before drinking a very small cup! No ill effects so far though.
That's an impressive building!
