We were not looking forward to today as we had yet another funeral to attend at the local crematorium. Today we were saying goodbye to the wife of a good friend. It was a cold and frosty day but with bright sunshine. The hearse arrived and the casket was one of the most beautiful that I have seen - whicker and covered with flowers including little bouquets all around the edge.
The service was humanist with adapted poems and a superb eulogy ready by Luzie and John’s daughter Jackie - a few years older than me I really felt for her and she did an excellent job.
Afterwards we went to Fulwell Golf Club for the wake and Colin and I had been asked by John to take some photos of guests so that he can send them to Luzie’s friends and family in Germany who could not make it over. It was a strange job but everyone was happy to oblige when I explained whey we were photographing. We were there for a couple of hours and got home just after lunch. We were both shattered and fell asleep.
Later in the evening I had to go to photo club as I was on lock-up duty. I was a little reluctant as so tired but in the event it was a very good talk by one of our members who has unbelievably achieved seven FRPS qualifications from the Royal Photographic Society (RPS) - unbelievable. It was worth making myself go out.
