Much better weather this morning so no rain coat needed! We decided to walk the city walls today and were able to start at the town nearest to where we were staying. The walls have a few breaks but are very impressive with great views. The route proved that we are staying in the nicest area and should be win the lottery I’d definitely like to stay at Greys Court hotel near the cathedral - didn’t think much of the location of Karen and Charley’s five star hotel on the main road near the station but I think it has good spa facilities. It took us a while to walk the entire walls and it got quite hot so we stopped for a coffee and cake at a little cafe within one of the towers which was very good. At the end of the walk we stopped again in the Museum gardens, trying out some excellent ice cream and also got to see hawks and owls on a visit to the gardens.

On the way back we went into another listed house which has been converted to an antiques shop which is owned by one of the specialists on ‘Dickinson’s Real Deal’ - Timmy! We did see him but were too British to say anything. Back home for a rest.

A little later we headed out to the French restaurant that we had booked last night and Colin brought along some information on researching family trees for the guy we had met yesterday. We had a nice table upstairs (we hadn’t realised that there was another level) and the food was excellent. We both went for the set menu and every course was good. What was even better was that the man Colin gave the info. to, picked up our drinks tab of three beers so even better value. It’s not often we have a very good meal with good service for good value in the UK. We walked home through the Shambles and actually got a good look without the crowds from earlier in the day.
