Wow - third time out and about this week and second up in town. I have not seen my first cousin Tim for over 7 years and after two aborted attempts during Covid time this was third time lucky.
He travelled up from Swindon on the day so we agreed to meet later in th afternoon at the Royal Academy to see this years Summer Exhibition. We travelled up a little earlier in the afternoon as Colin wanted to see the Halycon exhibition that I had seen with Sarah earlier in the week. It was just as good as the first time I had seen it.
We finally met Tim and Michelle after some confusion over the entrance to the Academy - who knew that there are in fact two entrances and two cafes and needless to say we were not at different ones. It was lovely to see him again and to properly meet Michelle who I have only met once in the past at Hester’s wedding in 2016.
The show as a little disappointing and not nearly as good as the year that Sarah and I went when Grayson Perry had curated the show. However, there were some good pieces amongst the not so good!
It was a nightmare journey on the way back as the trains to Teddington had been cancelled so we had to take train to Surbiton. This was not too bad as we could take the bus all the way to Teddington. At least we should have been able to but n the vent it totally broke down and we ended up walking home from Kingston Road - a rather tiring end to the day!
