Sadly today Christmas and New year are truly over as we had to say goodbye and head on our long journey back home. It was pouring with rain and basically it did not stop for our entire journey and the windscreen wipers were on the fastest speed they would go for literally the entire time - we did not turn them down once. I had the first half - around 160 miles until we stopped for a very welcome lunch at our new favourite break point at Cartgate Services in Somerset. It was lovely and warm with a an equally warm welcome.
Colin took over the second half of the drive and the rain kept up the same and worse. Surprisingly it didn’t take us that much longer than usual but we were both really tired by the time we got home. The rain was still bucketing down so as Colin had just driven, I volunteered to unpack the car which took a number of joineries back and forth. I was soaked by the end of it. Home safely though.
