10th March 2013

Apologies to any arachnophobes!! A brilliant night walk in the jungle with a guide this evening, we saw a snake, moths, beetles and literally hundreds of spiders - all shapes and sizes - mostly big.

The best was the bird eating tarantula but unfortunately it was quite a way up a tree for a decent shot. So instead, here are a variety of huntsman and hairy spiders (that is their name), all taken with the on-camera flash so not as sympathetically lit than when an external flash is used.

Interesting fact - spiders eyes glow like little lights when caught in torchlight which really indicated how many hundreds of spiders were watching our progress!
Ooh! (followed by "Ick!") I am not a great fan of being too close ot spiders but I can understand their beauty and form and their useful function. Some lovely shots here Emma and a great collage.

@steampowered ha! ha! I suddenly remembered as I was leaning in to get a better shot (left the macro at home) that they jump - luckily they were in posing mode rather than action mode! Waiting for flight back to the UK at the moment so photos will be considerably more provincial.
