Clutching toads.

Our last morning dodging showers at Dumbleton and we kept finding pairs of clutching toads. The good news is that toad numbers are definitely up around here, the bad news is that they do seem a bit daft as these two chose to pose on the main steps into the garden, prime place to be trodden on. So, after their photo session I moved them down to the lakeside for safety!
belle capture ! La nature c'est la nature.

@montse Merci beaucoup :-)

Now you are getting like me. Can see how they could get trodden as they match the steps so well. So glad you took them to safety. Great detail on their bodies, can see all their little wrinkles.

@pam1 I love toads but in this area they do seem to be accident prone!

@emmadurnford Oh dear. that is like our precious hedgehogs. They always go out on the roads at night. Altho I haven't seen as many this year.

And the NZ possums! We must have been the only people in the country to stop to avoid hitting one at night (I'm afraid I think they look really cute although I know they cause lots of damage). We did see 2 hedgehogs as well - one in Twizel and one near 90-mile beach (I had to pick them both up to move them as they seem to enjoy walking on the road?!)
