12th May 2013

Today is the second sunday in May which is traditionally 'Chestnut Sunday' in Bushy Park. This day celebrates the 'candles' of the Horse Chestnut trees along the Avenue leading to the Diana Fountain.

At 12.30pm a parade consisting of vintage army vehicles, bicycles, re-enactment societies, Route Master buses and much more drive down the Parade which is closed to all traffic for an hour. This couple are riding a fantastic Harley Davidson and are very happy about it!

This is a great event and thousands of people attend - if you are interested I have a Flickr album from the day (just a small selection!)

Just looked at your Flickr album - you have got some fantastic photos. It looks like a summer's day too. All looks like great fun. The chestnuts aren't flowering yet round here

@jantan We were a bit worried that the flowers wouldn't be out at all. Last year they had almost gone over but with the weather we've had this year they could really have done with another week or so to be at their best.
