Bulbous Betty!

This is Bulbous Betty, also known as Aphrodite in the Terrace Gardens in Richmond. I think she is great as she definitely has a rather generous figure. 'B.B.' was created by Allan Howe in 1952 to replace a Victorian fountain melted down during the second world war when metal was in short supply for munitions.

However, she was so hated when originally called Aphrodite that locals renamed her Bulbous Betty and the name has stuck. I wanted the building reflections in the pool but it was very difficult to get the angle I wanted without a 'selfie shadow' appearing! (One of my photos of Bulbous Betty may become another greeting card!)
I think she is gorgeous and should be called Cuddly Liz! Not bulbous betty! Great photo of the whole area!

Great shot of BB, with nice reflections. Is that by any chance a dolphin she's sitting on?
