10th October 2013

Rainy weather and catching up with chores today so I was looking for a subject around the house.

This is 'Anne-Charlotte' (pronounced with a French accent like 'On-Shallot'!). I have owned her for nearly 20-years and bought her from an antique/junk shop in Balham in South West London.

I was drawn to her as although she is a sculpture of a dog (wears a collar) she actually looks like a fox. I couldn't afford her at £20 but managed to negotiate the price down to £10. This was on the condition that I named her Ann-Charlotte after the woman who had originally bought her at a French flea market to be sold again in the shop.

So, she has moved house with me many times and now lives in front of our fireplace, ready to pounce at any time.
Anne-Charlotte is lovely and it was so nice to hear her history, Emma. I can understand why you fell for her. The light and colour in your portrait of her are lovely.
