Trying my hand at studio photography. This is my conductor friend, who volunteered to be a model for me. Feel free to critique! I'm eager to learn and improve.
Great pose, with a good natural smile. Excellent focus on the eyes, and a good depth of field choice. For your next go, you might want to have a little lighter background to make define her hair better, and I would push the exposure on the face up a touch to really make her eyes shine!
I really like this, Erika. I love the pose and the direction of the light. I also really like dark backgrounds so I think this aspect of it is very nice. The only thing I would do is have more light on her face. Her arms seem to be lit more than her face and I think the brightness of her right arm (camera left) is a bit distracting from her face. But you could maybe fix that in post production or next time light her face a bit more. I think she would be very happy with this shot though, I think it is a lovely conductor headshot!
@drfleury14@irisn@jazhirst Thank you so much for your critique! I agree that I need a little more light on her face. Lighting is my biggest challenge with this studio stuff. Can only get better, right?
This is a great portrait - good focus, no distracting background, and you've captured her personality beautifully.I agree with other comments about more light on the face though.
