Today we had a glass blowing demonstration on board from Hans Ittig, a fifth generation glass blower whose family fled East Germany in the late 1950's. They re-established their trade in the town of Wertheim, now the glass blowing centre of Germany.
He made a Christmas ornament by heating then rolling a glass tube in the coloured glass chips, then melted them into the glass before blowing it into a beautiful ball.
@helly31 Thx Helen - that's the torture some days of only being allowed one photo (even if I do post collages occasionally) - other days even one photo feels hard!
