I bought this glass snail in Prague as a memento of a visit to the Municipal House, where I photographed an exquisite gold snail on the side of an antique aquarium in the Moravia Slovakian reception room (see 9 July 2014).
The Municipal House, or Obecní dům, in the centre of Prague is a stunning Art Nouveau building that includes the Smetana concert hall and reception rooms, all filled with beautiful period furnishings and artworks, including many by Alphonse Mucha. I had Mucha posters in my bedroom when I was a teenager :-)
Our tour finished with afternoon tea in the cafe, which had a "to-die-for" dessert trolley including several berry-flavoured options. I later wandered round a market near the Old Town Square where the fruit and vege stalls sold pottles of mixed berries in rich jewel colours - I did give in to the cherries :-)
@kfromnj@gilbertwood thx - my treasured glass collection is displayed on glass shelves suspended in a window - and securely quake-waxed into place because NZ has so many earthquakes. I love the way the light shines through it, esp at sunset, when this photo was taken
