I was excited that the reds were so vivid and true so I had to use it for this evenings photo. It was sundown and overcast and I did not use a flash. Does this have something to do with the color? I have so much to learn and 365 encourages me to take the time to do it. Please feel free to critique all my photos as that is why I joined. You are great teachers!
Hi Sue - it's nice to still have flowers in bloom! One of the biggest factors that affects your colour saturation is time of day. Early morning and late afternoon generally provide more saturated colors than mid-day. I see that you took this around 7 pm so there wasn't a lot of sunlight (or Flash) to dull the colours. You'll find the same thing if you take a picture on an overcast day, your colours will be much more saturated. I sometimes try to take my picture during my lunch hour but I usually find I'm not too happy with the results so I go out again around after work. These days around 6-7:30 is a really good time.
