Protector or predator ? by etienne

Protector or predator ?

I am fascinated by the look of the tiger watching the young lady who is watching her phone, oblivious to her surroundings. I think that the tiger's initial intention was to use the girl as lunch, but that now, pacified by the stillness of the scene, he has changed his mind and just wants to keep watching her forever.

This seems like a long lasting scene that could never change, but actually, a few seconds after I took the shot, three dogs came running and barking from the left, so that the young lady was disturbed and left, and the dogs left as well. Thus it was just me and the tiger and cars coming all the way along the street. It was as if the previous scene had never existed.

This is Astna Square along the main street of Clonakilty, Ireland. The statue was erected in 1898 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the battle of the Big Cross, which was fought one kilometer upwards from here, between Irish rebels and British troops. The plaza is named after the Irish peasants leader, Tadhg O'Donovan Astna. The picture was taken just after the one I posted yesterday, from exactly the same spot. I have tagged it for the Street Challenge.
