I was struck by the obvious mismatch between “The Lucky House” sign and the derelict appearance of this former jewellery store, located in the middle of Clonakilty’s commercial street. The inscriptions on the front of the house tell the story of a more glorious past, and we can imagine how the luxurious items on display would have attracted envious looks from the busy passing crowds some twenty years ago.
