Ganets galore

Rouzic Island is one of the largest colonies of ganets in Europe. 20000 couples come here all summer to raise their young. In spite of their 1.80 m wingspan, they all manage to get packed on the east face of the island.

This is the south face as seen from my house with my largest camera magnification. The extremity of the colony is clearly visible on the right side of the picture. The density of huge white birds is so big that this part of the island looks white, in spite of the 1 hour sailing distance. If you have good eyes, you can also see tiny white dots in the air : these are the birds coming back home from their food finding mission and cruising to identify their nest before landing (no mistake allowed).

It is really worthwhile to watch a few seconds of the following video in order to observe what is happening in the white area of the picture. https://www.dailymotion.com/video/xxpe8y
that's amazing - I've been to some of the colonies in northern England, so have seen something similar
