The ground in this area of Brittany is made of 300 millions years old granite. Almost all ancient buildings and walls are made up from granite boulders, you just have to pick them in the fields.
The wall that marks the east end of our beach dates probably from the nineteenth century and has been built on top of a granite outcropping. It has been enduring winter winds and crashing waves and shows no sign of weakness. I always admire the technicality of our ancestors.
