This is not a bridge, but an 8 km aqueduc that was built in 1623 to carry the water to the city of Treguier from the fountain of a neighbouring village. Although this aqueduc is located in the middle of nowhere several kilometers inland, the river is remotely connected to the sea. It has salty water and its level varies with the tides : the riverbed was empty 2 hours after this picture was made.
Built in 1623? Nearly 500 years ago and still standing!
It never ceases to intrigue me that something as functional as this aqueduct can look beautiful despite probably having been designed and built with no thought of its aesthetics.
A lovely scene and capture.
