The Countess Beach in Saint Quay Portrieux by etienne

The Countess Beach in Saint Quay Portrieux

The husband of the Countess who owned this area of land at the beginning of the 20th century was a diplomat in Morocco. That explains the style of the palace on the left, which is now a luxury B&B. The white tower in the middle of the image is a signalling tower of the French Navy and so it is a military property. The rock on the right was used by the Countess as a botanical garden, and the ruined walls were designed as a protection against the winds for some of the plants. That rock is an island at high tide. It appears darker on the picture because I purposefully timed the shot so as to have the shadow of a cloud just passing over the rock, in order to break the uniformity of the lighting over the picture.
Very nice setting and nicely captured
