This Canada goose was part of a flock in downtown Milford this afternoon. Some of them had numbered yellow bands on their necks. I have asked my brother, who works for Ducks Unlimited, to find out what that means.
Info from my brother, the wildfowl expert: "They use both metal leg bands and plastic neck collars for geese. The neck collar is easy to identify for biologists and they can see the numbers with binoculars when they are tracking geese movements/migration (or lack of migration, like with these residents)."
super capture, love the lighting and details. interesting info too, about the bands. some of them travel such great distances so it's interesting to thing that some of them don't travel at all.
