My Grandma's Peony by falcon11

My Grandma's Peony

My maternal grandmother died in the 1950s, but she lives on in this peony, which my mother passed down to me for my garden. It only makes one or two blossoms a year, so it is extra special to me.
This is beautiful and a nice way to remember your family.

What a beautiful bloom! It's a shame you only get one or two of them. Maybe if you have your soil checked, it might just be lacking something.

@dawnirwin We have very rich soil. The white variety next to it can have up to 40 blooms per year so I am not sure what the problem might be.

What a lovely gift. This is such a beautiful full peony. I love the tinges of deeper pink/red on some of the ends. They're not a really common bloom so I so enjoy seeing them when they do bloom. Bet you look forward to this one each year.

What a lovely way to remember your grandmother. If it only has a couple of blossoms you would hesitate to experiment with it.

Beautiful! Love the water droplets on the petals. So nice to have as a memory to your grandmother.

So many layers of history depicted here - all in precious soft loving tonal colour. Beautiful.
