...the pictures we take? The memories we hold on to?
I took a lot of pictures today and had trouble deciding which one to go with. I went out to Astoria today for my cousin's son's 3rd birthday party. As I rode the N train out to Queens, it felt like I was taking a ride down memory lane...
Many, many moons ago, I used to take that train to and from work, to and from nights out in Manhattan with my sister (who was still at NYU at the time) and my friends, commuting from my 1 BR apartment which I shared with an ex-boyfriend...
Wow. Good times. My early twenties are almost a blur in my memory. Burning the candle at both ends, going out, having fun. As I thought about that time in my life, it felt like a montage of days of drinking French wine, sex, cuddling, lunch in Central Park, laughter, and good meals in between all that. That...and work. When work was just work - a job. It's true when they say "Youth is wasted on the young."
I took a few photos of the sun setting behind Manhattan from the N train as I headed back to my new home, feeling like I was fast-forwarding my life 10 years+ to the present day. I'm married now (to someone completely different than the ex referred to above) and now have a career I love after taking a bold leap of faith and switching jobs when most people settle down.
Anyway, I decided to go with this photo of a new chapter in my life...Gone are those days. I'm on to some wonderful times ahead!

Astoria! Felt like that was another era. Good times.
The pics I took from the N train as the sun was setting were pretty though. Hard to choose just ONE photo a day sometimes...
