A tree grows in Manhattan

86th Street & East End Avenue.

I looked up today and saw this.

It's funny how I've spent half my life in New York and there are pockets of the city I never really go to. Found myself on the UES today. Wayyy east. Almost felt like I was in a different world. I have a different perspective of this shot which includes the street and buildings.

This shot, though, I thought was pretty freakin' cool.
Beautiful silhouette against that stunning sky. Love the light halo surrounding the tree.

great shot love the light and shadows. some seriously brutal tree surgery gone on there.

Interesting capture of what's left of that tree, it appears to have been savagely 'pruned'. I'm sure it would take a life-time to explore a city the size of New York. By the time you were done, there would have been significant re-construction and you'd have to start all over again.

Yeah, this version is pretty darn cool. Well seen my friend. UES aye? so far from everything.

I love silhouette's!! Especially when they have so much artistic flare to them! :)

Terrific pov.

Cool, indeed. It seems to be in a different place, no buildings, no people, no busy life around. Great pov.

Excellent POV and choice in processing this shot! Really communicates the climate and how it must feel.

Love the cold gray light...with a hint of snow. Nicely done.

Nice shot. went back and forth to the flicker shot to see exactly how the tree had been pruned. I like the two different perspectives and took me a min to figure out how the thing was growing.

@baznman I'm guessing they pruned it so it wouldn't have branched out into the building? It was quite a beautiful tree, actually...and odd for it to be on the street like that in Manhattan.

Yes, totally pruned for building clearance. Cities are tough places for trees.
