When I was in my late teens and 20s, I used to dislike New Year's Eve. Always felt bittersweet to me. Especially the last ten seconds when everyone is counting down to kiss off the year. Maybe it's because I used to put expectations on this night, thinking something spectacular would happen or I would feel a certain special way when the clock struck twelve.
These days I don't feel this way. I think it's because I don't put a lot of extra expectations on the new year and just make a plan to work hard to get whatever it is I want or work for. And usually... I get what I want...even if it's bad for me. 😳
The funny thing about this night is that it's no different than any other. The clock strikes twelve everyday. Which means we can promise to do better, live better, be more present the next day....every day of our lives. Sade had it right when she said every night is New Year's Eve.
Anyway...
This is my final shot for this year. I'm starting with the drinking early. It's some brew from New York State and it's not too bad. It's cold outside and there's a light snow falling outside where we are upstate. It's pretty...

I've been in love with her since before she was famous. I was stationed in Germany when she began to get noticed; first overseas, then back in the states. I'm her number one fan; have a secret handshake and everything! ;)

Congratulations on completing your year. I dislike New Year and probably for the same reasons you used to. I already follow you on Flickr but I'm sure going to miss your narratives.
