@tonydebont well there are actually several types of cabs. The most iconic, of course, is the yellow cab. But there is also livery can service (mostly in the form of a black car of sorts) or "gypsy" cabs. There's an ongoing problem of sorts of yellow (metered) cabs not wanting to venture into lesser desirable upper manhattan neighborhoods for various controversial reasons, leaving people having to pay more for livery cabs -- usually people who can't afford themz Last year they put out a fleet of green cabs to fix this problem, cabs who are not supposed to refuse dropping off or pick up fare in these neighborhoods. Why they chose green, I dunno.
