Iconic

Maybe some of you know, but this coffee cup is kinda iconic NYC. One can get a cup o' joe in this paper cup at delis or kiosks on the street but they are harder to come by these days. I remember being able to get this for $0.50 some time ago. Today's cup was a dollar.

So. I've been wondering what to do with this space I've carved here for myself. Originally thought I would stop totally after January 1st but haven't. Still kinda get a kick outta this place even with all its...weirdness. Last year's purpose was a photo diary. This year? It's become a place where I dump pics that I don't think are great but want to share anyway. Kinda like how I use Instagram.

I think I might just start using this place to post pics of the New York most people don't really get to see or even want to see. Even the ugly smelly stuff.

I dunno.

In other news, I didn't go to my regular coffee guy to get this cup. Shame on me. He's still awesome though. He's totally Johnny-on-the-spot with my large cup, ready and waiting even before I get up to the counter. Hell, he even sees me before I step inside and he's already getting it ready for me. After two years of this, I decided last month to get his name, pretty sure I would forget it like I do with most names.

Incidentally he has the same name as my husband. It's a good name. A biblical name. I told him that he has the same name as my hubby. I told him mine. He calls me darling or beautiful probably because he can't remember my name. And I'm ok with that. Normally I don't like when strangers call me sweetie or darling but for him, because he's so fucking adorable, I let it slide ;)

Anyway...who knows what I'll be doing here next. Perhaps nothing...

@tosee thanks for the encouragement, Tom. :) this is still fun for me so I'll keep posting even though it's not as "goal directed" or purposeful as last year.

@snaphappy1 haha really? What a strange coincidence!

Love to see your images, no matter how mundane and I truly look forward to your ramblings. I will sorely miss them while I'm away.

I think that is a pretty interesting idea of presenting NYC as the locals see it.

Thought of you yesterday with Metro North closed down for a good part of the day. You probably leave early enough in the morning and late enough in the afternoon that your trains were OK.

@mcmary such a horrible explosion! And metro north shut down shortly after I got into Manhattan and was back in service for the commute home, thankfully. Hope your surgery went well!

@baznman I think I might do more NYC photos here this year as last years purpose was to shoot and post on the day I took a pic. No exceptions. Now that I don't have those self imposed rules I can now take time to get the NYC shots I want to share...

@tonydebont why thank you, Tony! Your comments are always so kind :)

You know, I have very similar feelings about this site. Not really sure what I'm doing. I planned to stop... I can't quit you, 365project!
