Feeling groovy

59th Street Bridge. My favorite bridge in all of NYC. I don't get a chance to take a shot of this often. I took this from a speedy cab going down the FDR last Thursday. Taken with my iPhone. Quite pleased with this. This was well-received on my Flickr and made the Explore page for a minute. My first time. Funny...my first photo that made PP on this site was also of a bridge (Tappan Zee) and also taken with a crappy iPhone cam. Haters gonna hate. Guess it goes to show that the best camera you have, is the one in your hands. Or however that saying goes.

Although the title references a Simon and Garfunkel song...the song for today is this. Because it reminds me of a good time in my life (though I would not want to go back)...Seems so long ago.

Artist: De La Soul
Album: Stakes is High
Song: Itsoweezee

Hope you're all having a good weekend!

Besos,
T

Love the bridge, love the image, love Simon and Garfunkel. You made Explore - big congratulations! That is a major event. FAV, of course.

@amandal @soboy5 thanks both for your faves! I live that simon and garfunkel song. And @soboy5 Thanks! I was surprised and happy to have made Explore there. It was really unexpected. Posted it, thinking it was pretty good. Then I woke up to find that it had over 1,000 views and many faves.

Thanks for planting that song in my head! Terrific shot.

That album and that bridge - you can take a ride on both and you're immediately back in 1997. Very cool shot. Impressive comp for not having time to set it up. Good job!

Groovy indeed! wonderful shot, fav.

Fantastic result from a snap-shot on a mobile-phone. I haven't worked out how to download from the 'smart' phone. It is a darn sight smarter than I am

@mcmary @jmrittle thank you both!

@snaphappy1 yes! you know exactly where i was going with that other song linked and the pic of this bridge. And thanks for acknowledging the composition. This is not cropped at all and basically just converted to B/W. I knew I had about 5 seconds to take this shot and to turn back at the right moment...as I was heading downtown instead of up. Amazingly there were no cars or other things to obstruct the view when I got this. Took three shots and the first ended being this one :)

@tonydebont thanks, Tony. The 'smart' phone is smarter than me too. Ha. I think if i was shooting in M on my DSLR, this would've looked like craaaaaaap. ;)

Taken from a moving vehicle? I don't care what your camera is, that is impressive. Fav-level impressive.

But I also have Paul and Art stuck in my head now. Thanks, pal.

@timerskine thanks for your fave! Groovy! I thought about cropping out the foliage but I really thought it added something.

Simply beautiful! It glows! Instant fav

That's cool, I only ever had one photo make Flickr Explore. It's the composition which makes this photo, so don't give too much credit to the phone :)

Very impressive from a moving vehicle! The foliage at the top makes a great frame giving an urban image a natural connections. Fav!

Nicely done. I think people, including myself, get infuriated by the fact that the stupid iPhone can actually take some good pictures. Nice use of the foliage as framing, too.

Very nice shot, Ms. T! You have more skill as a photographer than you realize.

@johenn thanks for your fave, Jo. Appreciate it :)

@tomtom hey Andrew. Thanks! I was happy with the composition. Not bad for being rushed!

@drfleury14 thanks for the fave, Dan :)

@baznman thanks, Baz. The foliage was a nice surprise. I often get surprised at the iPhone too. :)

@thirdjoe thanks, Joe! I like to think I have a fairly good eye. Maybe one day when I have more time, I'll work more on fine tuning the photography skills.
