Hobson’s Conduit by felicityms

Hobson’s Conduit

This grid marks part of the course of Hobson’s Conduit, a watercourse constructed in the early 17th century to bring water from the chalk streams at Nine Wells into the city of Cambridge. Thomas Hobson, a carrier, set up a trust to maintain it, hence the name.
What a fascinating discovery, and an interesting piece of local history. I love these more obscure pieces of local history - fav!
