.. do you see the stone with the spikey bit on it...

on the right hand side? This just made me stop in my tracks... not only did prehistoric man (3000-2000 bc) chop stones, lug them miles and get them to stand upright... did he also carve points in the top and get them to line up with dents on the horizontal stones so that they would be even more secure?? I read more to find out...(it was confirmed) and also found that among the skeletons discovered in the area were a boy who had lived by the Mediterranean and a man from the area now known as Germany. Incredible. Was it a 'Lourdes' - like site of healing, a burial ground, a huge astronomical clock... we'll never know but this made me think it was worth another view in my project until I go back there again... which I hopefully will.
Thank you for visiting and - if you're still here - for reading my chatterings! :)
Very interesting about the spike. This is such a mysterious site. It has many more questions than answers.

It is really a fascinating place. I remember making a clay model of it for a science class in what was then called "Jr. High". I have no idea what that correlates with in your schooling. Most schools here don't even have it any more. Excellent shot!
