I want to show off my carrots this week, Amarillo Yellow carrots to be exact and they are going to seed....Yay!
Saving heirloom seeds is something I love to do and I have been doing so for the past 15 years or so, To me there is something sacred about the unbroken line that I am part of when I do this, and I feel a compulsion to keep doing it year by year, because a seed collection dies if it is not planted and allowed to go the full cycle.
80% of the diversity of the food crops on earth has been lost so far and with the advent of evil agribusiness corporations taking over the production of food and seed on this plantet much more is at stake.
I urge anyone with space to grow a crop, whether it is one tomato plant in a pot , or an acre of turnips , a few pole beans or a swathe of succulent lettuce, make them an heirloom variety, save some of the seeds and pass them on!
i have great admiration for people like you who hold on to something sacred as this. keep up with the good work. let's not let monsanto et al take over our lives. i do my bit by buying from the independent farmers. lovely shot of yourself and the greenery and sky are so pleasing to the eyes.
i don't live what i would consider a green lifestyle but the domination of agriculture by what i call "big farma" is some seriously scary shit.
the idea of not having seeds that can actually bear crops without the 'benefit' of some chemical company is self defeating in the highest extreme.
i have some seeds stashed away, you just never know and i'd rather take my own chances than wait for 'aid' to arrive...

Grow your seeds and share them , you can't hoard them for long.
