Where I live is a fairly large suburban city with a population just shy of 200,000 people. It used to be a mill/ railroad town. We have more old mill fires than any place I have ever been. Every block has at least one old abandoned church, mill or building. The old mills and buildings that haven't burnt down have been turned into lofts and apartments. It makes for somewhat melancholy surroundings at times. I always think back to what the city was like when all these mills were humming away with work and filled with people. Now instead of a mill town, it is a college town. There are a lot of cool restaurants and bars downtown on broadway and a really lovely theater and opera house at the River center that is built into one of those old mills. The less old parts of town are all the normal ugly suburbanite sights that one would expect. But if you look closely there are stories and interesting things to discover still.
@kali66@northy@gazbadger Thank you all!!! =) I think half of our city is urban decay. Ha! I wish I had more time to photograph the city. It really is quite an interesting place.
