Let's not be fooled, Glass Ceilings do exist and in many shapes and forms. For the few and fortunate they overcome obstacles, and eventually break through! Historically the term "glass ceiling" is a metaphor for an invisible barrier to advancement. It is often used in the context of women who, despite abilities and accomplishments equal to or better than male colleagues, find themselves passed over for promotions into positions for which they are well qualified.
