growing up in the third world in relatively abject poverty, books and reading were a luxury. in reading you can be rich, you can be poor, but you're learning and when food is needed to be on the table to feed hungry mouths, books and reading, as well as education, are just pure luxury.
oh, but what luxury they were!
and when i'm reading and so into a book, be it fiction or reference guides, the luxury of getting lost is pure heaven.
