The background is part of the Alabama Hills located in California outside of small city of Lone Pine off Hwy 395. Hundreds of movies have been filmed in the Alabama Hills, not just westerns. Its a fantastic place to visit, and the night skies are very dark for Milky Way and Astrophotography.
