Glorious Gloucesters Scrumty by flowerfairyann

Glorious Gloucesters Scrumty

Bristol has had Grommit and now Shaun the Sheep, Gloucester has Scrumptys. Apparently the Humpty Dumpty nursery rhyme came from Gloucester (some big gun or cannon that fell off a wall and was smashed to pieces), hence the egg shape. Gloucester Rugby Club is hosting some of the Rugby Union World Cup games later this year and the egg is sort of rugby ball shaped I guess. Anyway, this one must be to commemorate the Glorious Gloucester and is outside Gloucester Cathedral. There were lots of excited (and I mean excited) children with maps looking for more throughout the city. Go England!
I didn't realise these were in Gloucester!. Mind you I very rarely go there so it's hardly surprising. I shall have to make the effort and find one now. Great fun shot.

Cool shot and interesting history. I had no idea where the Humpty Dumpty nursery rhyme came from!

Great fun shot. can imagine kids having fun looking for these. Interesting to learn how the nursery thyme of Humpty Dumpty came about.

many thanks for all that info, except being Welsh, instead of Go England if it is a rugby reference I would have preferred Go Wales!

@lavenderhouse Don't think England will win it but it would be great if it was one of the home nations. I'll be supporting them all.

@flowerfairyann you never know, Oz beat NZ last weekend so it could be England or Ireland or hopefully Wales but I think not on that last one!
