Stone stile by flowerfairyann

Stone stile

Most stiles in the village are now wooden but this is one of the old stone stiles left. The last time I went over this one was years ago and we had Dad's collie with us. She was getting on a bit and we had to lift her over. Good old Bonnie - she was one of those faithful dogs to the end.

Taken yesterday - visitors today.
Interesting capture. I've never seen a stone stile before.

@deborah63 A stile is a crossing point over a fence. It is a great shot.

Interesting stile, I have never seen one like this. I presume once on a day the wooden rail would not be across the top?

Ours are all wooden ones and I've never seen a stone one. Interesting capture Ann

@deborah63 There are many public footpaths across fields in the UK. Rather than a gate in an awkward place you will find a stile to climb over. @shirleybankfarm Am pretty sure there wasn't a wooden top over it last time.

@roachling There are a couple more stone ones in the village Louise so I guess they must be unusual.

Haven't seen these either, must be a speciality in the Severnside area!
