So many amazing views in Edinburgh but I love this cemetery which is not far from the Palace of Holyroodhouse. Tanners are buried alongside writers and sailors and there are all sorts of monuments there. This watch tower is part of it's history as doctors and surgeons in Edinburgh used to pay for dead bodies to learn more about how to treat illnesses so there was a lucrative living to be made from providing bodies. Grave robbing was rife and this tower was built to watch over the graveyard. There is a plaque alongside commemorating the birth of a baby here so I guess the whole family lived in this unique building.
