Mystery

I was fascinated with this plant in Westbury Court Gardens. Does anyone know what it is? It was growing in a pot.

Is it somw type of cactus. Its so unusual

Not sure what size this is. Is the fruit? Some sort of Japanese Gooseberry?

@shepherdman It had this papery shell and was bigger than our gooseberry. There was a flower bud which looked almost hibiscus-like but I've never seen anything like it before. A complete mystery.

Interesting plant - not something I've ever seen before - I would think this is some kind of ornamental import perhaps but I really have no idea!
