Farrago by flowerfairyann

Farrago

For the October Word List. Farrago - a collection containing a confused variety of miscellaneous things. A bit like my brain at the moment. Best I've got for today. (I was attempting to make fat balls to feed the birds and it didn't quite work. Back to the drawing board.)
This looks good enough for humans -not to be wasted on mere birds! I bought a fat ball for a few dollars and it had completely gone within 3 hours!

I love the word - it is a new one on me. I think my brain could also be described that way. Your birds are in for a treat if you ever get the recipe working (although I agree with Maggiemae - it won't last very long).

Never heard that. That collection should make a very tempting fat ball

It looks like Granola. Sprinkle it over yoghurt

Leave out a few of the sunflower seeds and I'll join the birds - looks quite appealing.

Nice close up. I like the textures and shapes.

And here's me thinking it was your breakfast muesli!

Lucky birds! A friend of ours used to melt lard, chuck bits and pieces into it, then mould it into shapes as it cooled for hanging out for the birds. It worked as well!

@peadar Yep, lard is involved with this recipe. It's proving a challenge at the moment as the lard seeps out of the hole where the string goes through for hanging. Even duck tape doesn't seal it!

Two thoughts. A. Too much stuff in it, stopping the lard solidifying, and B. Have you thought of the freezer? 😎

@peadar Thanks for the advice - will be adjusting the ratio of fat to seed I think. Using the fridge but doesn't seem to be doing the trick so will try the freezer next. Have to get it sorted as I'm doing it with a group of children on Tuesday - aaargh!
