We went for a drive today through some of the area where our latest huge bushfire (with a perimeter of 280km) went through. It was a sad drive although the amazing work of the CFS firefighters was evident everywhere.
You've done so well in capturing this grim scene. But like John says, nature regenerates and in a few years all will come back to life again. We had similar devastating fires in Florida to the north of us about 15+ years ago----so depressing to see, but now all is back to its original beauty once again. I hope you get some rain soon.
Wow- it's hard to imagine it as something good although I've heard that fire is nature's way of house cleaning. It becomes more intense now with people living so close to these areas. But I'm reminded of when Mt. St. Helen's erupted in the 70's and how the area looked devastated afterwards, but a few short years later, it was green and lush! Nature can be harsh, but it is also quite amazing. This looks great as a black and white shot and it brings out the bleakness of the event.
