Hello, I Must Be Going

Introduced myself to another street dog in the pack adjacent to the one where I live. He kept walking.

He looks a little skittish. A beautiful coat for a street dog. He must eat well.

@taffy Yes, skittish. He used to eat well. His story is both typical and sad. He and another dog in equally good health appeared in the pack about a week ago. I think they're siblings. Young Thais love puppies and young dogs. Drivers will stop and pick up a street puppy or 2 and bring them home. Later, when the child loses interest because the puppy has grown out of youthful playfulness, dad takes him for a one way car ride. Temples used to be a popular dumping spot but a government campaign stressing how much it costs the monks made it much less popular. So, they get dumped somewhere far from home, but where the existing street dogs appear to be getting enough to eat. They tend to do poorly relative to the dogs who've been on the street all their lives.
