Hard to believe, but beneath these tiles of our son's 18th century cottage in Canterbury is a maternity roost. 20 minutes after sunset we saw the bats fly out to collect midges from the mill steam opposite for their babies. An amazing sight.
Must have been quite a sight. We have a handful of pipistrelle and brown long eared bats which roost in our loft. I love to sit outside and watch them catching the midges in the evening.
