Abbey Gate Bury St Edmunds

This was rebuilt in the 1400s and still retains its portcullis. It leads to the Abbey Gardens which are delightful in the spring, summer and early autumn. Just beyond the gardens are the old abbey ruins. From here is a fine view of the new abbey.
