VE Day by foxes37

VE Day

This is a photo of my father-in-law who was a pathfinder in WW11. They were considered the crème de la crème. He never talked about his exploits but he did tell us about fetching home the PoWs from Lubeck (top picture). I pinched this from my husband’s Facebook page. Hi
Great collage tribute beautifully presented Lis, we must never forget all those we owe so much to, I'm most intreged with the image of the Lancaster having all the names chalked on the fuselage have you any information on it, the reason for asking is it appears to have my surname Coulson chalked above the door and I would like to research why, Fav:)

@pcoulson - sorry not much more information Peter. The RAF squadron was 582 PFF and this was a mission to Lubeck May 9th 1945 to pick up PoWs.

@g3xbm He turned out not to be a relative of mine, J I Coulson navigator with 711 bomb group flying a B17-42-31124 Lady Lilian crashing at Eickendork and taken a prisoner of war on a bombing raid to Berlin 29th April 1944, he was repatriated from Lubeck, isn't it fascinating what can be found out from just a photo on 365 thanks for your info Lis:)
