Cut them off

Enemies come in many shapes
Yet none as potent as our fear
For in this modern, peaceful age
How many come armed with spear?

You may have a bully at work,
Or a drug-crazed teen who steals your purse,
Or a thief who on the web does lurk
Or a school rampaged by gunman’s curse

Of course these are real, and sadly so
Our fears grew from the seeds of truth
But they go on to steal the show
Afflicting our souls, making us cruel
