Valiancy

Someone else will have to deal with this
Too big a mess for you or me to clean
The earth's not like my small and cozy house
Where effort, soap and water make it gleam

Someone else will take the trash away
A plastic island big as Illinois?
No bag or truck can haul it all away
Where could it go? You'd need a giant void.

Someone else will have to let us go
Our bonds are stronger than the sharpest teeth
We're dogs in a tub waiting to be shocked
No struggling strain could ever set us free

Yet still we howl and still we shout with rage
We clean the house, take out the trash and sing
No matter that our liberty's in doubt
We think and dream and let our thoughts take wing
