I'm finding these blurry pictures oddly fascinating, not sure what I like about them and what I don't like about them.

I know what you mean. I think a lot of it has to do with the subject matter and the mood it gives the shot. They have to work together or the whole thing looks contrived- or like a mistake! Not so here. It looks like an intentional abstract.
