We woke up to pouring rain, so decided to go inland and tool around in shops. Visited a fabulous antique and art store in an old bank. A retired jeweler (whose spending habits hadn't changed, he informed us) presided over ten million in inventory (he also informed us of this), although some of that had been bought by a cigarette baroness from Guatemala who had bought $250,000 worth of furniture in three hours without a moment's hesitation. The fellow was slightly obsessed with wealth, I think. Although I enjoy looking at marquetry, give me plain old mission-style furniture any day. But we were entertained. Here we are at the rare plants nursery where we will pick up a pussy willow tree on the way home.
In the afternoon the weather had cleared and we rode bikes out to Assateague and swam in the ocean. But after dinner, our evening round of mini-golf was interrupted by a great deluge, so they signed our score cards and we will return tomorrow.
Picture is also for get-pushed challenge from Tineke to do high key photo.
There does seem to be an obsession with wealth around these days - we have a saying "knows the cost of everything and the value of nothing" Hope the weather allow the finish of your round. Great High Key moment
Good job on the high-key aspect of the shot. Sounds like an eclectic shop with one very interesting owner! I would love to have a pussy willow growing in my yard- I'll expect to see pictures of yours!
